So apparently I'm heading to New York.

I'm gonna be honest with you. It's been a shit year, for a number of reasons I'm not going to go into, but it's coming to a close. I'll be finishing uni at long last, and my final class is a study tour to New York, looking at it as a creative city.

I'll be there from the 20th of November to the 8th of December. While we have an itinerary, there's still a lot of free time I'm going to have to fill.

Now to decide what camera gear I'm going to take...

I ain't dead

Well, I probably wouldn't say I'm back as such.
Browsed all my stored deviations (which was all of them) and unstored a couple. Marvelled at how bad most of them were.

I thought i'd add a couple new photos too.

For those interested, things have changed a lot.

My long term job ended just before xmas, and I only recently landed a casual role at Queensland Museum. Unfortunately it's not enough, still need to find another job.

I'm back studying. Creative Industries at QUT, majoring in Art & Design History.

I'm no longer involved with the Abbey Medieval Festival or the Caloundra Music Festival. Work and uni was taking too much time and quite frankly, I couldn't do them justice. I have recently stepped up to a committee role with the Brisbane Relay for Life. Hopefully I won't run into the same problem!

I'm learning guitar. It's slower than I'd like, but I'm getting there. It might slow down more once uni starts up again, but hopefully not. Even half an hour each day should keep me on track.

I've finally got a car, so I'm getting out and getting photos a bit more than I had been, and getting to places I never would have gone to before. Now all I need is a D800 and a bunch of new glass, then I'm set...

The festival is the largest authentic medieval event in Australia.  It spans a thousand years in Europe and the Middle East from the Dark Ages to the High Middle Ages, from AD 600 to 1600. There is something for all ages at the Tournament.  The breath-taking pageantry of the Joust; the courage and skill of knights in armed combats; a new and spectacular Grand Parade with over 500 re-enactors parading from the castle; a Masque Ball, educational talks and exotic food.  Visit the renowned Medieval market to indulge your shopping fantasies or the Stag Inn and the Tavern to satisfy your thirst.  There is music, dance, arts and crafts and rich photographic opportunities.

The Festival is on the 11th and 12th of July this year and once again requires photographer volunteers to capture all the action.

If you'd like to be involved then be quick because time is short. The application form is available here www.abbeytournament.com/pav_vo…

The CMF is back again, and after having a blast last year, I'm happy to be back doing it again.

If you'd like to volunteer as a photographer you can download the application and details here www.caloundramusicfestival.com…

Applications close on the 15th of August, so you have to be quick.

Artists confirmed so far include Kate Miller-Heidke, Pete Murray, Ian Moss, Jackson Jackon and Lior.

Stuff?

You may or may not have noticed my lack of activity on here.

Lots of reasons really, of course, the saturation ads in virtually every part of dA is a big one. :D Yeah, I could get a subscription, but I dunno, they're making enough from the ads they don't need my money again.

Been busyish too.
Footy season is back, hooray.
Shot a wedding the other week. Was lovely. Although we didn't get to do to the photos we'd planned. Fog, torrential rain and gale force winds kind of put pay to those ideas! Still, it turned out pretty well.

I had a constant headache for over a month and it turns out I have high blood pressure as well as a few other things. I think I need a new job, I suspect the stress from it is the root of most of the problems. My actual job is fine, it's the situation we're in that's the problem.

A little disappointed with someone too. Agreed to some terms, even signed a contract, but failed to deliver and now avoid all attempts at contact. It doesn't affect me directly, just wish I knew what the problem was. No one else had one!

Looking to do a little more fundraising. Organising a Relay for Life team on the Gold Coast this year. Only a couple months to get it done, but hopefully can get a good team together. I don't expect we'll raise a whole lot, but it all helps, and it's a great event to be involved in.

I should really try to sleep.
